The curators of Les Inspirations Visibles, Stephen O'Malley and Hampus Lindwall, will perform a concert at the Eglise du Saint-Esprit of the iconic minimalist composer and filmmaker Phill Niblock (1933-2024). It will be a celebration of his music, mind, and acoustic presence.

The great artist, composer, and, most of all, great friend Phill Niblock passed away last January at age 90. His compositional, performance and film-based practices greatly influenced and inspired many in the experimental and art music universes, not least of all the curators of Les Inspirations Visibles, both of whom had opportunities to work with, record, and spend a lot of time with Phill.

For this homage to our friend, Stephen will play electric guitar, and Hampus will play organ on two pieces Niblock composed for/with them. Hampus will play "Unmounted / Muted Noun", which Phill wrote for him in 2019, commissioned by Musica Festival Strasbourg. Stephen O'Malley will play "POOM", which Phill wrote for Stephen, recorded by Robert Poss and worked on together right before the pandemic. "Poom" was commissioned by Mathieu Copeland through the Hermes Foundation of Japan. Each piece runs around half an hour and involves live and tape elements.
